Enquire
Book a 20-minute conversation and have your curriculum vitae to hand. No charge and no obligation on either side — I will tell you honestly if I am not the right person. If it is worth going further, the assessment hour is £250, credited in full against any programme booked within a month.
In a hurry? The assessment is £250: a written read of where you stand, a target list with honest odds and your deadlines, then an hour to go through it. Credited against any programme.
The form
Four minutes. It is the reason our first conversation can be useful rather than exploratory.
What happens after you send it
- Within two working days A reply from me, not an autoresponder. Either a time to speak, or an honest no with a suggestion of who else to try.
- The conversation Twenty minutes, no charge, no script and no slide deck. We work out whether the outcome you want is achievable on the timeline you have. I turn down a meaningful share of these.
- If we proceed A written engagement letter with the scope, the sessions and the dates. Half the fee on signature, half at the midpoint.
Before you write
Three things make the first conversation useful rather than exploratory, and all of them are on the form above.
- The target, named. "Oxford maths" rather than "a good university". "Jane Street or Optiver" rather than "quant". The preparation for Oxford is not the preparation for Cambridge, and the preparation for a market-making seat is not the preparation for systematic research.
- The date. Oxbridge is decided by the 15 October UCAS deadline and December interviews. MBA round one closes in September, round two in early January. A live quant process has its own clock. What is possible depends almost entirely on how much time is left.
- Where you actually are. Scores if you have them, drafts if you have them, and what you have already tried that did not work. Overstating the starting point costs you the first two sessions.
If you are enquiring about a child, say what they want rather than what you want. It changes the advice more than anything else you could tell me.
Or write directly
If a form is not your preference, and for referrals from advisers, relocation firms and schools it usually is not, write to alex@geodesicpartners.co.uk. Include what you are aiming at, by when, and where you are starting from.
Enquiries are read by me and nobody else. If I am not the right person I will say so in the reply rather than book a call to tell you.
